Susan Seligson is a journalist, columnist, editor and author of the books Going with the Grain: A Wandering Bread Lover Takes a Bite Out of Life (S&S) and Stacked: A 32DDD Reports from the Front (Bloomsbury). Her reporting and essays have appeared The New York Times Magazine, The Times of London, The Atlantic, Boston Globe, Salon, Outside, Redbook and elsewhere. She lives in Truro, Massachusetts.
William Shirer (1904-1993) was originally a foreign correspondent for the Chicago Tribune and was the first journalist hired by Edward R. Murrow for what would become a team of journalists for CBS radio. Shirer distinguished himself and quickly became known for his broadcasts from Berlin during the rise of the Nazi dictatorship through the first year of World War II. Shirer was the first of “Edward R. Murrow’s Boys”–broadcast journalists–who provided news coverage during World War II and afterward. It was Shirer who broadcast the first uncensored eyewitness account of the annexation of Austria. Shirer is best known for his books The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, which won the National Book Award, and Berlin Diary.
Rachel Louise Snyder is the author of the memoir Women We Buried, Women We Burned, the novel What We've Lost is Nothing, Fugitive Denim: A Moving Story of People and Pants in the Borderless World of Global Trade, and No Visible Bruises: What We Don't Know About Domestic Violence Can Kill Us, a New York Times 10 Best Books selection, winner of the Lukas Work-in-Progress Award, the Hillman Prize, and the Bernstein Book Prize for Excellence in Journalism; and finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award, LA Times Book Prize, Kirkus Award, and the Silver Gavel Award; and published around the world in twelve languages. She is the recipient of a 2020-21 Guggenheim fellowship and an Overseas Press Award for her work on NPR's This American Life. A Contributing Opinion Writer of the New York Times, Snyder's work has also appeared in the New Yorker, New Republic, Washington Post, the Atlantic, and elsewhere. Page Stegner (1937–2017) was a novelist, essayist, and historian who wrote extensively about the American West. He was the son of novelist and historian Wallace Stegner.
Sam Subity is the Director of Content for EdTech startup Chegg.com where he wears many hats including web content manager and business development lead. He has an MBA from Santa Clara University and an English degree from John Carroll University with a focus on medieval literature during which time he spent many an hour perfecting his pronunciation of Old English. He now lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife and two kids who are always his first and most critical beta readers. They also participate with varying degrees of enthusiasm in his love for running, baseball, and epic road trips.
