Don Congdon Associates is seeking a part-time office manager/administrative assistant who is enthusiastic, detail-oriented, efficient, and interested in books and the publishing business.
Responsibilities include:
• Administrative duties such as answering phones, filing, scanning, copying, mail processing, ordering supplies, and processing/tracking royalty statements
• Generating rights catalogs for subsidiary rights sales and international fairs
• General correspondence with clients, publishers, co-agents, and others
• Reviewing query letters for two to three agents
• Manuscript review and editorial projects (time permitting)
The right candidate will be a highly motivated and organized self-starter, with the ability to represent the agency professionally. This role is ideal for someone looking to break into the publishing industry and learn the basics of author representation, rights management, and contract negotiation.
Hours and compensation:
This is a part-time position with three to four days between Monday - Thursday for approximately 25 hours a week. You must be able to work out of our NYC office for the majority of the week. Compensation is $24 per hour with an additional travel stipend.
